“Performance was excellent – superb stimulus
for year 8 pupils”
Fairham Community College, Nottinghamshire
“Digger”
has performed and worked with over 6,000 young people from schools
throughout Derbyshire, Derby, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and in 2006
Litchfield.
The programme explores the long-term use of
alcohol misuse, the effects that this can have on friends and families,
encourages young people to feel empowered to challenge misuse and
encourage sensible drinking.
"Digger” was inspired by
and created from Lin Coghlan's "Broken Angel" which David Johnston
originally commissioned when artistic director at Roundabout, Nottingham
Playhouse in 1995 by the Health Authorities of Nottinghamshire and
Derbyshire, and the Arts Council. “Broken Angel” was the story of two
young girls and an alcoholic father – Digger.
