Ava Hunt:
Director/Performer/Teacher |
Ava trained at The Drama Studio as an actress and
has worked for 28 years in community theatre, theatre for young people,
television, film and video, both nationally and internationally. She is
a qualified teacher, has an MA in Applied Drama, is a highly experienced
workshop leader, director, trained with Augusto Boal and worked with Dr. Dorothy Heathcote.

Co-Artistic Director for Yorkshire Women Theatre,
Leeds (91-97), Shared Experience Youth Theatre (festival tour to
Russia), Watford Palace Youth Theatre, Junction Arts Derbyshire,
Creative Partnerships Nottingham, Creative Partnerships Derby, Carlton
Television Junior Workshops, Language Alive (Birmingham). As co
artistic director of Tangere Arts she has most recently directed a main
stage production of "The Little Mermaid" for Uncontained Arts in
association with Buxton Opera House which has toured nationally to
sell-out audiences.
Her acting credits include Roundabout Nottingham
Playhouse, Theatre Centre (London), Derby Playhouse, Half Moon Young
People's Theatre Company, BBC, Channel 4, Granada, Carlton and Yorkshire TV. She
also currently lectures in Theatre in Education for Theatre Arts
Department at the University of Derby. Ava received a research grant
in 2008 from University of Derby to visit and
develop her work in Sri Lanka with young people, teachers and
professional artists. This has generated articles, reports and
future possibilities for further visits and collaborations for artistic
and educational practice. As co-artistic director Ava is
currently on a year's sabbatical and on contract with Hull Truck Theatre
company as Artistic Assistant. She is also delighted to be working
in association with Tangere Arts and taking "I'm No Hero" to the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August. |
